The Solstice is such an exciting time of year, and we are lucky enough to have two a year–the 21st of June and December. Read about this June’s Solstice here.

The Northern Hemisphere celebrates the Summer Solstice in June and the Winter Solstice in December. The Summer Solstice celebrates the Winter Solstice in June and the Summer Solstice in December.

I created a ritual for the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice. First, I’d like to share with you why I love the each Solstice and what they bring to our sadhana, our spiritual practice.

This is a very powerful day!

This is the best time to increase your energetic field and raise your vibrations as this Solstice is centered around bringing you to a deeper connection with the Higher Realms and the Higher Consciousness. And what better way to do that than with a ritual?

For these rituals, you will be focusing on certain chakras and asking yourself some questions geared around the meaning of the Solstice in your hemisphere. The Summer Solstice ritual will focus on the lower three chakras to help you stay grounded while the energy is at its highest. The Winter Solstice ritual will focus on the upper three chakras as the energy is at its lowest.

Summer Solstice Ritual

Supplies Needed: Crystals you are drawn to (preferably Red Jasper, Carnelian, and Citrine but any that you feel called to, listen to them) ~ Smudge Stick ~ Incense (preferably frankincense, myrrh, or copal) ~ White Candle and matches ~ Pen and paper or journal ~ 3 Flowers ~ Glass of drinking water ~ Music that resonates at 528 Hz (you can find this on YouTube or Insight Timer)

  1. Turn your music on to a volume that is comfortable for you. Then smudge your space and your aura. Repeat silently or aloud, “I clear myself, I clear my space. I ask for an open mind, guidance, and release.” 3 times.
  2. Light your incense and candle. Place both items on a surface that is safe for burning. Place your crystals in whatever grid you are drawn to create. If you are not feeling it, ask the crystalline energy to present itself and guide you, trust what comes to you.
  3. Sit in a comfortable position in front of your candle and crystals. Bring your hands together in prayer position and rest them at your heart center. Take in 3 deep breaths. Say silently or aloud, “I ask for ears to hear the answers I seek. I ask for understanding so I may move forward. I ask for healing. May the healing energy of the White Light fill my being.”
  4. Grab your paper or journal and set aside. Place your flowers in a row with the coins under them. Place your water in the center of the grid or wherever you feel called.
  5. You will be writing three questions for this ritual. If you feel guided to write more, listen to that guidance. Take as much time as you need here. Allow yourself to go deep. Explore yourself here. Invite your Higher Self to whisper in your ear. Feel the energy of the answers.
    1. Do I give myself permission to step into the sacred power of new beginnings?
    2. What does the best version of myself look and feel like?
    3. What step(s) do I need to take to awaken and bring forth the best version of myself?
  6. Take in 3 deep breaths. Stay still for a moment and allow the energy from this practice to settle in.
  7. Place your hands in prayer position resting them at your heart center. Take 9 deep, cleansing breaths.
  8. Say aloud or silently to yourself, “With every breath I take, I am reborn. Today, I open myself to the all the possibilities of my rebirth.”
  9. Take one last deep breath, extinguishing the candle on the exhale.
  10. Drink your water that has been charged with the energy of this ritual.

I like to take my paper and burn it in a ceremonial fire. I throw a sage bundle along with it. As the ashes drift off into the heavens, I release what I wrote and allow myself to be filled with the energy of the Divine.
